Mayan Ruins Tour
Tour Cahal Pec Mayan Ruin which means, “Place of Ticks” and is located in the northwestern part of the Cayo District and tour Xunantunich Mayan ruin which means, “Maiden of the Rocks” and is located in the extreme western part of the Cayo District across the Mopan river.
Cahal Pech Mayan Ruin – During the middle and late pre-classic period, Cahal Pech may have been the primary center of the central Belize river valley region. Pleasant, ceremonial center perched on a hilltop overlooking the town of San Ignacio and the river valley below.
Xunantunich Mayan Ruin – “El Castillo” adorned with an expressive architectural frieze is the tallest structure at the site (approx. 130 feet) and is visible for miles around. Part of Guatemala and western Belize can be seen from the top. We are transported across the river via hand crank ferry. After visiting both ruins, go for a refreshing swim at the inland Blue Hole, so don’t forget to bring your swim suits.
