Generally March is considered kite season in Belize. Beautiful clear March days, mild temperatures, and wonderful windy days make for a winning combination for kite flying. You’ll find someone selling kites at almost every roundabout in Belize City. But even then most kites in Belize are made by hand with multiple layers of tissue paper, white glue, lots of sticks and knotted pieces of cloth tails. Here is an article explaining kite building in Belize.

Belize City is also home to the annual Bowen & Bowen Kite Festival. It is usually held on Marine Parade Boulevard across from Celebrity Restaurant.

Here is a short video someone uploaded to YouTube about the kite festival.

Be prepared and on the lookout for all the kites if you join us in Belize this March.
